Battle Drones / Drones de batalla

Battle Drones features an exciting combination of aerial acrobatics with an engineering design challenge that will teach students STEM concepts, teamwork, and how to skillfully fly a drone. In Battle Drones, teams of students will build robotic launchers designed to fling projectiles at their opponents’ drones. Students will be guided by experienced camp instructors in how to construct their launchers to maximize projectile speed and accuracy. The camp will culminate in an epic battle where students will need to pilot their drones to safety by dodging opponent projectiles while using their own launchers to take down opponent drones. The best drone pilots and launchers will emerge victorious! Battle Drones presenta una emocionante combinación de acrobacias aéreas con un desafío de diseño de ingeniería que enseñará a los estudiantes conceptos STEM, trabajo en equipo y cómo volar un dron con destreza. These Swimming Lessons are reserved for Dutchmen Explorers Club. For more information about Swim Lessons click HERE. July 21-24: Lessons are Monday through Thursday Private Lessons-25 minutes per day. 1:1 student:teacher ratio. Lessons are for children 4 and older. Swim lessons offered through Community Education are designed to teach participants lifelong swimming skills and provide training in basic water safety and how to help a swimmer in distress. In addition to the skills outlined under each level, swim lesson courses are intended to provide a positive learning experience so participants can feel comfortable and enjoy the water safely. Community Education swimming lessons are progressive, with each level building on skills, technique and endurance acquired as the levels advance. All swimmers must shower before entering the pool or come pre-showered. No lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, hair products, etc. *Must wear a swim cap. Caps can be purchased at Coborn's in Melrose. DEC staff will bring students to lessons and back. Parents are invited to watch in the bleachers if they would like to. Parents, please keep track your child's swim levels, you will receive a report card after each lesson!

Drone Racing / Carreras de Drones

Students will learn how to fly like the pros in the Drone Racing League by training on a flight simulator. Once they learn the basics of flying, they’ll assemble their very own drone which they’ll get to keep after the camp. After learning drone safety and maintenance, students will take their drone to the skies and compete in numerous races and challenges. Led by experienced instructors, students will leave camp with the skills and knowledge to pilot their drones and keep them running. The drones used in camps have cameras, and are perfect for entry level pilots. Los estudiantes aprenderán a volar como los profesionales en Drone Racing League entrenando en un simulador de vuelo. Una vez que aprendan los conceptos básicos de volar, armarán su propio dron que podrán conservar después del campamento. Después de aprender sobre seguridad y mantenimiento de drones, los estudiantes llevarán su dron a los cielos y competirán en numerosas carreras y desafíos. Once upon a time... we put on a show! Welcome to Storybook Theatre where we take classic fairytales and put a fun twist on them, and then you get to act them out! Do you love acting, singing, and dancing? Then Storybook Theatre will surely be a great fit for you! In just one week we'll put together a whole musical, and you get to be one of the stars! Come have a wondrous week with Storybook Theatre! The Little Mermaid: Pearl has it all in the depths of the ocean. As the youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Scylla, she should be perfectly content -- but she dreams about the surface world. She wonders what it would be like to walk on the land and be among its people. When she saves a young rock star from sleeping with the fishes, she realizes she will do whatever it takes to leave the underwater kingdom behind. When her parents tell her that she can’t go ashore, all hope seems lost -- until she remembers that her Uncle Caliban used to tell her stories about walking on land. But King Triton banished Caliban from his underwater kingdom. Uncle Caliban and his gang of underwater henchmen agree to help Pearl, but only if she can get up on land and win the beach party dance competition. If she fails to win the competition and the heart of her rock star crush, she will turn into one of Caliban’s eels and live under his control forever! Will Pearl be able to dance her way into the rock star’s heart, or will sinister Uncle Caliban find a way to take control of the sea from his brother? Rehearsals: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. There is a lunch break halfway through each rehearsal. Students can eat lunch from our FREE summer lunch program or pack their lunch. All participants will need to pack a lunch on Friday. Performance: Fri, 6:00 pm. Everyone is invited to see the final product of the week's rehearsals. Ticket prices for the performance will be $5 per person.
